Thaddeus Norris, Jr.: America's Greatest Fly-Fisherman Jerry Girard

James E. Leisenring, on his dedication page in
The Art of Tying the Wet Fly (1941), bestowed upon Thaddeus Norris Jr.
the title of "America's Greatest Fly Fisherman" and recognized Norris
as the 19th century's most influential fly-fisher ... Ernest Schweibert
wrote in Trout (1975) that Norris was "both our Walton and our Cotton
combined in a single angler." This is the story of the individual
many referred to as "Uncle Thad."
